Are you one of the many Braintree adults who suffers from recurring headaches? Have you figured out what type of headache plagues you? While headaches have myriad causes, they can be generally classified as either primary or secondary.
According to the Mayo Clinic:
“A primary headache is caused by dysfunction or overactivity of pain-sensitive features in your head. A primary headache isn’t a symptom of an underlying disease. Chemical activity in your brain, the nerves or blood vessels of your head outside your skull, or muscles of your head and neck, or some combination of these factors, may play a role in primary headaches.1
“A secondary headache is a symptom of a disease that can activate the pain-sensitive nerves of the head.”1
Examples of primary headaches are: migraine, tension and cluster headaches. The American Chiropractic Association describes cluster headaches as headaches “grouped together over weeks at a time; sinus headaches, associated with allergies and/or sinus infection; and headaches from poor vision.” www.acatoday.org
